Violin and Fiddle Teachers
Holly Lockyer-Lee – Piano, Voice, Cello, Violin/Fiddle
Holly is an award-winning teacher, musician and entrepreneur. Having studied music and education at Memorial University of Newfoundland, she has worked with soloists, ensembles and choirs for more than twenty years in studio, community and school settings. A firm believer that music is for everyone, Holly takes pride in customizing instruction and performances to accommodate students’ abilities and interests. Her students have successfully participated in The Royal Conservatory of Music’s Applied Studies and Theory programs, as well as local Kiwanis Music Festivals. She is also director of Play It Forward Community Music, a developing music accessibility program. Instruments include piano, voice, cello, fiddle/violin.
Pallas Loredo – Violin/Fiddle
Pallas is a first year student at Memorial studying violin at the School of Music. Some of the ensembles she has participated in include the Holy Heart String Ensemble and the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has had her fair share of Kiwanis Festival and conservatory performances as a soloist, but prefers to play in orchestras and groups, being a natural team player. Though Pallas has dabbled in the areas of piano and fiddle music, she remains very passionate about the classical violin, her primary instrument since the age of 4. Apart from being a student and music instructor, Pallas is the resident classical music contributor of Kurrent Music, a collaborative music blog founded earlier this year. she believes that she can spread the joys and wonders of the classical music world to anyone of any age, all while keep it fun and genuine.
Rowan Sherlock – Piano, Violin/Fiddle, Viola, Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Folk Group, Theory
Rowan Sherlock is a trained Classical violinist and pianist; having studied his craft in Waterford Institute of Technology Music School in Ireland for over 20 years, he then went on to undertake a BA in Music Composition and Classical violin performance, then followed by completing his MA in Music Composition under the tuition of the acclaimed Irish composer Dr Marian Ingoldsby. Rowan has in the past lead such orchestras as the South Eastern Region Youth Orchestra, the W.I.T Youth Orchestra, and has also toured internationally with the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. He is also the violinist with acclaimed Irish groups ‘In The Willows’, ‘Gypsi Swing’ as well as well-known Irish traditional band ‘Newfoundland’ with whom he has toured with extensively. Rowan has worked as a violin, piano and music theory teacher in schools across the South-East of Ireland as well as performing nationally with various groups, as well as having performed at countless wedding ceremonies and functions as an ‘event musician’ over the past number of years. Rowan has performed on stage with many well-known musicians such as Duke Special, Nicola Benedetti and Dame Evelyn Glennie.
Rowan currently performs in many locations around St John’s as well as all across the island with local bands “Rugged Shores” and “Burgeo Speedwagon”. Rowan now resides in CBS, Newfoundland and has purchased his first house here!
