Jacquelyn Redmond is a violinist hailing from Portugal Cove – St. Philip’s, NL. She received her Bachelor of Music from Memorial University in Violin and Composition in 2018 under the guidance and instruction of Dr. Nancy Dahn and Dr. Andrew Staniland. Jacquelyn is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance and Pedagogy at Memorial University. Ms. Redmond strives to always be learning. In 2018/2019, she studied privately with Amalia Canzoneri of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In 2019/2020, Jacquelyn studied privately with Jennifer Johnson, who is an expert in the field of Body Mapping and who plays with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her years of playing violin, Jacquelyn has always enjoyed being a part of an ensemble. Starting in her Suzuki days, she was a member of the S.T.E.P. Fiddlers, and has since performed as a solo traditional musician as well as with Calos Youth Orchestra, Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Toronto and the Watershed Ensemble. As a teacher, Jacquelyn strives to create a safe and welcoming environment to help foster each child’s love of their instrument. She has helped many children find their passion for music whether it be with the violin or another instrument.
Born and raised in Oakville, Ontario, Matthew graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, before earning his Voice Performers ARCT through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Over the years, he has performed at various concerts and recitals, including as a guest soloist with the Burlington Welsh Male Chorus, the Queen’s Park Civil Service Choir, and the Brantford Symphony Orchestra. He took part in Summer Opera Lyric Theatre’s 2018 season, playing Somnus and the High Priest in Semele, and Le Comte des Grieux and the Innkeeper in Manon. He was also a member of Voicebox: Opera in Concert’s chorus in Comedy Unbound! and Fierabras during their 2018/2019 season. As a songwriter, Matthew enjoys playing with a variety of genres, such as pop, rock, and R&B. He has explored the world of scoring, writing original music for the 2021 short film The Winner Is. Matthew has been teaching voice, piano, theory, violin, and string bass since early 2015. His experience includes private, group, and online lessons, as well as musical theatre. He loves working with students of all ages and interests, employing different methods to suit each student’s unique needs.
Rowan Sherlock is a trained Classical violinist and pianist; having studied his craft in Waterford Institute of Technology Music School in Ireland for over 20 years, he then went on to undertake a BA in Music Composition and Classical violin performance, then followed by completing his MA in Music Composition under the tuition of the acclaimed Irish composer Dr Marian Ingoldsby. Rowan has in the past lead such orchestras as the South Eastern Region Youth Orchestra, the W.I.T Youth Orchestra, and has also toured internationally with the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. He is also the violinist with acclaimed Irish groups ‘In The Willows’, ‘Gypsi Swing’ as well as well-known Irish traditional band ‘Newfoundland’ with whom he has toured with extensively. Rowan has worked as a violin, piano and music theory teacher in schools across the South-East of Ireland as well as performing nationally with various groups, as well as having performed at countless wedding ceremonies and functions as an ‘event musician’ over the past number of years. Rowan has performed on stage with many well-known musicians such as Duke Special, Nicola Benedetti and Dame Evelyn Glennie.
